RADIO ITALIANA 531 - MEDIA RELEASE
9 June 2021

Radio Italiana 531 has been announced as a new Local Drug Action Team (LDAT) through a successful grant application process awarded via the Australian Government and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation. This initiative will see the station address the important issues with the focus on preventing and minimilising alcohol and other drug-related harm within the Italo and Italo-Australian community.

Radio Italiana 531's Local Drug Action Team, spearheaded by the station's Youth Committee and supported by their two Community Partners the Campbelltown City Council and the City of West Torrens, will support programs at a grassroot level to work with their communities to play a vital role in identifying and preventing alcohol and other drug-related issues.

Mario Romaldi, Radio Italiana 531's President said: "We are looking forward to engaging with such an impactful and important program, one that the Radio has the perfect forum to communicate through and one that will bring critical messaging to the over 100,000 South Australians who listen and enjoy the station's programming and events".

Station Manager Marco Petta added: "Part of our vision is to be leaders in the community by being a hub of information through our broadcasting and community engagement, and this opportunity will allow us to establish a program which will continue to give back".

Radio Italiana 531 as a newly formed LDAT will help to deliver evidence-based information, education and mentoring programs designed to prevent and minimise the risk of harms related to alcohol and other drugs. A wide range of other grassroots activities will be undertaken to allow station listeners and the wider community to connect, engage, empower and support each other.

Radio Italiana 531 thanks the Australian Government and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation for this opportunity and looks forward to welcoming this new initiative into the already established raft of community events across the 2021 calendar.
