RADIO ITALIANA 531 is owned and run by the Italian South Australian community. RADIO ITALIANA 531 enjoys the active support of a large number of sponsors, over thirty paying member Italian clubs and Associations and 400 paying individual members. Our listeners are very loyal, and very passionate about Radio Italiana 531. These listeners mostly come from the over 91,892 South Australians of Italian heritage (recorded at the last census), 35,000 of which still speak Italian at home. There are substantial listeners who tune in to the English speaking sports programs and also listeners interstate and overseas, now that Radio Italiana broadcasts on internet and Tune-in. The 531AM signal is able to be accessed by all car and other radios, no matter their age.
RADIO ITALIANA 531 not only covers all the metropolitan area and, can be also heard in most country regions such as Whyalla, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Murray Bridge, Berry, Remark and many other key regional areas. There is an ever growing internet audience via smart phones and computers.
The whole sound of the station from the announcers, to the production, to the music, aims to reflect the needs and wants of the audience and strives to keep people interested in Italian and Italian Australian culture, in touch with that culture, as well as local and international events.
The station is controlled by its members who elect a volunteer management committee. All the announcers and support persons are volunteers, and they present a large variety of programs, mostly interacting directly with their listeners via talkback, requests, outside broadcasts, competitions and giveaways.
RADIO ITALIANA 531 also employs several key office staff.
RADIO ITALIANA 531 moved into new offices and studios, situated at Unit 3, 215 Port Road, Hindmarsh in July 2015.
